[20 Oct 2010|11:52am]

I am currently planning a stage set for a (high action) play, and would like to pick anyone elses brains  (I have some ideas, but am picking other peoples brains as well for any ace ideas. Ideas used would be credited in the programme.)
The play is set in about 1700, and the scenes are

- English Harbourside
- Convict Ship
- Algerian market
- Sheikhs Palace
- Pirate ship
- English harbourside tavern

We are performing at a drama festival, and can only have limited stage set (its also what we can get there in three cars plus cast! We are then doing some open air shows, which work as even more limited! The drama festival theatre stage gives us a simple black backdrop and flats.

My plan so far is to have a basic nautical set that doubles as the harbour and the ships, with a lighting change and background sound effects to indicate where it is, alongside the acting by the cast.
In the Algerian market, we are having the merchants bring on rugs and cushions and whatnot to make it look like a Middle Eastern market place.
The Sheikhs palace is similar, with the one bit of backdrop - flown light gauze fabric hangings, and a few ornaments brought on as part of the play by servants.
This is all removed for the pirate ship, in which we go back to the basic set, and  a pirate flag flying, which turns into the tavern with the wenches bringing on two tables, with bottles and tankards.

Those are my ideas, but I was wondering if anyone had any "quick and simple" ideas for getting more definition between the harbour and the ships. Thanks tons for any ideas... :)

I need your help! [23 Feb 2007|08:17am]

I'm going to be entering some Juried shows and exhibitions very soon. As an artist I'm a horrible judge of which of my paintings are good. If you are reading this I would sincerely appreciate it if you could do the following things for me.

1.Follow this link www.shoshannabauer.com

2. Put a comment (can be as simple as just saying "this one" but if you want to comment on why that would be great too) in what you believe the top 3 paintings in the whole site are (there are about two pages or so of paintings)

When I get the results in the next few days I'll post the paintings that got the most votes.

Thanks so much in advance!

Support your fellow Student Filmmakers!!! [20 Nov 2006|10:37pm]

Greetings fellow filmmakers! I am pleased to announce that MIGHT OF THE TRANSIT EMPLOYEE, the 3min. video my friends and I made in 24 hours for Apple's Insomnia film Festival is on Apple's contest gallery and we need YOUR HELP to make it to the top! Basically we need to accumulate as many votes as possible before the close of voting on December 2nd. If we can at least make it to the top 25 most voted movies, our project will be eligible for judging. Here are the details on how you can help.

You're going to need an Apple account before you can vote. Registering is really simple and free.

He hopes to utilize the scientific knowledge of Dr. Worthington as well as the magical powers of Chamomile the Pixie to destructive ends. Biff Blazer, a full time transit employee is unwittingly flung into the midst of this otherworldly chaos and becomes the only one who can set things right.

Our team was given 24 hours to write, film, edit a 3min. movie and incorporate at least 3 elements Apple released at the start of the contest. The list of elements included:

Required character named: Alex Kona
Required Dialog line: "No, you don't understand what it's like growing up here."

To vote, look in the upper right hand corner of the page and select the "4 stars--Excellent" option. Then click the arrow to the right for the vote to go through. Please get as many friends and family members as you can to help. Really spread the word and the link around; every vote helps! THANKS YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Tell Everyone [02 Feb 2005|05:20pm]

[ mood | busy ]

I'm posting because I'm on a mission, and I need your help. I'm a filmmaker in North Carolina and last year our production company lost financial backing because the investor was afraid of the controversial content.

After trying all of the legitimate ways of getting an independent film made, my friends and I have hatched a hair brained scheme. We decided to take the grassroots approach, so we're asking for a dollar from anyone that wants to see our film made. In return we'll thank every single person by name in the film. If you're willing to give up to $10 we've made shirts and underwear as thank you gifts. Intrigued?
Check out: http://www.heroinefilms.net

We're looking for anyone to help us, and we're asking the people that it matters to most, not some dude chillin' with a big bank account.

Hey there! It looks like this place has been quiet for a while. Hm...

If anyone else is still interested, I'd love to get to know the bunch here. I'm a 17 year old filmmaker from Minnesota. Right now I'm the sole force behind my Poison Pen Productions (website currently under construction). I'm tweaking the script for my first feature, a kung fu movie, and would appreciate tips from some of you more experienced artists.
